HOWL! Festival of East Village Arts
Remember the East Village
back before cultural gentrification and sanitization when it was a mecca of
cool? The third edition of the HOWL! festival presents 200 events all
over the 'hood, including crowd-pleasing drag extravaganza Wigstock and theatre
sub-fest Way the F*ck Off Broadway. The festival peppers its art offerings with
countercultural gusto, including a marathon reading of Allen Ginsberg's namesake
poem and the presence of Ms. Harry herself to shake things up for old time's
sake. The festival also includes numerous free and G rated events.
