Back From The Dead!

Attention Whole Foods lovers and Citarella snobs; Balducci's the originator and former king of gourmet foods is reopening its freezers! Once located at the corner of Ninth Street and Sixth avenue (currently home to Citarella) the new location will be in the old New York Savings Bank Building located at Eighth avenue and 14th street. The artist rendition remind us of Fortnum & Mason in London, the oldest (300 years) and most luxurious (the clerks wear tuxedos) gourmet market. Balducci's is expected to open in fall of 2005.

On a similar note, Trader Joe's is rumored to be opening in NYU's Palladium building in Union Square.
